Research & Innovation

The innovation ecosystem at GLFBS is made up of different factors, relationships and resources that all play a role in taking a great idea to transformative impact at scale. Innovation ecosystem at GLFBS operates at multiple levels and within multiple sectors. The four basic elements of the innovative ecosystem at GLFBS comprise of people-policy-process-climate. The effectiveness of each part is moderated by other parts of the system and integrated with the greater ecosystem so that the change to one part of the innovation ecosystem leads to change in other parts of the innovation ecosystem.

Expertise

GLF Business School (GLFBS), Kolkata is a premier Management Institute affiliated to the West Bengal State University for UG, PG and Diploma programs. GLFBS is founded by Prof Lopamudra Bhattacharyya, the first Woman B-School Founder in India. The B-School integrates knowledge, research, industry experience, and international exposure to offer comprehensive management programs for nearly one decade. GLFBS is the first B-School in India integrating Business Analytics in curriculum and offering specialization in highly sophisticated areas of Data Science & AI, and Biotech Management to cope up with the technology driven industry. GLFBS Kolkata is the first B-School in India offering specialization in Valuation Studies for all three classes of assets viz Land & Building, Plant & Machinery, and Financial Assets.

Technology

The post 90s rapid economic development and liberalization witnessed substantial demand for management education. The current wave of turbulence caused by the twin influences of technology disruption and the pandemic has posed new challenges for the aspiring students. The critical issues include the key skills in management and emerging technologies as well. GLFBS has timely taken the initiative to integrate management skills with technology skills to make the students ‘battle-ready’ when they intend to commence career. GLFBS aims at providing training facilities in emerging technology areas such as 3D Printing, Robotics and Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI-ML), Blockchain, Biotechnology, Internet of Things (IoT) etc. Building a platform for knowledge-based learning using the cutting-edge technologies is the main motto of this initiative.

Collaboration

GLF Business School in technical collaboration with Ministry of MSME, Govt of India runs Centre For Innovation & Smart Manufacturing and Centre For Biotechnology Management to provide state-of-the-art facilities to make the students industry-ready and successful entrepreneurs. Initial funding opportunities for each startup shall also be available through proper channel as per the Government schemes. GLFBS is a Member Institute of FITT IIT Delhi and the the registered enabler of StartupIndia. GLFBS has perennial effort for collaborations in different forms with Industry, Academia and Research Institutes of high repute.

Curriculum

The Board of Studies updates curriculum in consultation with the subject experts at a regular interval making it multidisciplinary as far as practicable. “Management”, being a professional course, demands imparting all essential skills required to work in the business world. GLFBS offers a wide range of specialization subjects which can be classified under two broad heads viz. ‘Function Specific’ and ‘Industry Specific’. There are compulsory internship project so as to make the students more conversant with the industry practices. The focus of the study are on the experiential learning, peer learning, team work, lab-based learning, analytical-diagnostic-problem solving-decision making abilities etc. involving latest pedagogy of management education. The revision of syllabus focuses on recent industry trends, digital economy, and market requirements based on the collective inputs from key stakeholders, benchmarking with institutions of high repute, and considering the basic requirements of employers.
